went home to see my best friend with cancer this weekend

and he is at least able to be up and walk around

but he is just so skinny

his appetite is zero and he must have lost 100 pounds

and he’s in so much pain

and all the pain is just making him so grumpy

so grumpy in fact that when i told him i would be back the next day to see him, he basically told me not to come

and have i mentioned that his dad recently recovered from cancer and is going through a round of preventive chemo, so he’s really sick too

and i’m just distraught because i don’t know how to help

bringing food won’t help because he won’t eat

visiting won’t help because he doesn’t want to see anyone

but i guess this is just the nature of the situation, there’s nothing i can do to help
